Vigils
Yusuf has remained steadfast in calling for accountability and justice for his late brother. Each year, Soleiman’s life and death are honoured through vigils held on December 15–the anniversary of his death. The first vigil was held exactly one year after Soleiman’s murder, at Dundas Square in downtown Toronto in 2017. By the third anniversary in 2019, 6 additional vigils were held across the country. This marked the first time in Canadian history that 7 vigils were held coast-to-coast in a single day for the same cause.
